James Johnston
Violinist James Johnston is a founding member of Renaissonics, and has performed as a solo, chamber and ensemble player with a variety of early music organizations in North and Central America and Europe. He was a winner of the Noah Greenberg Award for arrangements and performances of 19th-century American music, and his arrangements and performances of repertoire from the 16th through the 19th-centuries on the Dorian, Sony, and North Star labels have captured further acclaim. From 2000-2004 Johnston was the conducting assistant for the Indianapolis Symphony, and is currently Assistant Professor and Chair of the Music Department at Antioch College in Ohio. Johnston studied at the New England Conservatory and Indiana University.
